A Day at the Retreat

Your days at the retreat will begin with breakfast so you’ll be ready for a full day of writing. Afterwards, you’ll go to your quiet writing space, spending the morning working on the issues you’ve identified with your advisor or mentor.

Librarians, writing program faculty, and research methodologists are available to meet with you throughout the day. These experts are ready to offer support and assistance when you need it.

At midday, you will share a meal with other students. You can discuss your progress, ask questions, and gain insights that you can apply to your afternoon writing.

After lunch, you’ll continue working on your dissertation. Late in the afternoon, you may want to meet with your peers to read each other’s writing and offer useful, constructive criticism that helps keep all of you on track.

The day comes to a close with afternoon refreshments and a daily wrap up.
