About the Retreat
The Dissertation Writer's Retreat is a program for advanced doctoral students who have completed their comprehensive exams (or equivalent), have chosen an approved topic for their dissertation, and are working with an advisor, chair, or mentor.
The retreat not only provides instruction, but offers a unique combination of benefits: a distraction-free environment, 1-to-1 coaching, and peer support. You'll have 4 days of uninterrupted time to make significant progress on your dissertation and get important feedback and guidance.
Peace & quiet
We place the highest priority on helping you create an environment conducive to writing. You'll have a private room and large blocks of time to devote to your dissertation.
Focus
You've left behind distractions. Here, everything—expert support staff, workshops, other attendees at the retreat—is focused on academic writing.
Inspiration
Good writing is hard work, but it's also the product of inspiration, which can come from unexpected sources. A quiet walk. A spirited group discussion. An insightful comment from another doctoral student or writing expert.
Progress
You know what progress you want to make—new inroads with research, the completion of a difficult chapter, or just a renewed sense of momentum. Whatever your goal, this is the time and place.
The retreat includes a 5-night stay with free Internet access, continental breakfast, lunch, and refreshment breaks. The total package cost is $2,395 for non Capella doctoral students and $1995 for Capella learners.
